Teeth Whitening in Altamonte Springs: In-Office vs. Take-Home
A brighter smile is one of the simplest cosmetic changes you can make. At Magnolia Springs Dentistry, we offer two professional options: in-office whitening and take-home whitening.
What causes stains?
Coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, and simply getting older can all darken teeth over time. These surface and near-surface stains usually respond well to whitening.
Some discoloration comes from inside the tooth, from an old injury or certain medications. That type doesn't always respond to whitening, and veneers or other options may work better. An exam will tell us which kind you have.
In-office whitening
Done in a single visit
Uses a professional-strength whitening gel
Your gums are protected during treatment
The fastest way to see a noticeable difference
Take-home whitening
We make custom trays shaped to your teeth
You wear them with professional whitening gel as directed, usually over a couple of weeks
Results build gradually, on your own schedule
You can keep your trays for touch-ups later
Why not just use store-bought strips?
Store-bought products are one-size-fits-all, so they don't always reach every tooth evenly. Professional whitening fits your teeth, and we check for cavities or gum problems first, since whitening over those can be uncomfortable.
Good to know before you whiten
Whitening doesn't change the color of crowns, fillings, or veneers. If you're planning new dental work on your front teeth, it's usually best to whiten first so the new work can be matched to your brighter shade.
Some sensitivity is common. It's usually temporary and goes away after treatment ends. Let us know if you have sensitive teeth, and we can adjust your plan.
Pregnant? We generally recommend waiting to whiten.
Making your results last
Rinse with water after coffee, tea, or red wine
Use a straw for iced coffee and tea
Keep up with your regular cleanings
Do occasional touch-ups with your take-home trays
